Single Room Heat Recovery – REC Duo 100
Fresh, filtered air and up to 90% heat recovery, fitted straight through an outside wall. No ducting, no attic unit, no ceilings to open up.
*Measured at 3 m in open field.
Heat Recovery Ventilation Without The Ductwork
A full MVHR system is the best answer for a new build, but running ducting through a finished house is not always practical. The REC Duo 100 gives existing homes, extensions and individual rooms the benefit of heat recovery ventilation with nothing more than a core hole through an outside wall.
Each unit runs quietly around the clock, replacing stale, damp air with fresh filtered air from outside while holding on to the heat you have already paid for. It is a practical way to tackle condensation, streaming windows, musty smells and mould without the heat loss that comes with an open wall vent.
How It Works
- Pull. The unit extracts warm, stale air from the room. As the air passes out, a ceramic heat exchanger inside the unit absorbs and stores its heat.
- Push. The fan reverses and draws fresh air in from outside. The stored heat is released into that incoming air, so it arrives in the room pre-warmed.
- Repeat. The cycle continues 24 hours a day at low speed. A built-in humidity sensor steps the speed up automatically when moisture levels rise, and back down when they fall.
Why Choose The REC Duo 100
Keeps the heat in
The ceramic heat exchanger recovers up to 90% of the heat from the outgoing air.
Costs very little to run
An EC brushless motor uses between 1 W and 3.5 W, less than a small LED bulb.
Quiet enough for bedrooms
15 dB(A) at low speed and 29 dB(A) at maximum, measured at 3 m in open field.
Responds to humidity automatically
The built-in humidistat is adjustable from 45% to 85% relative humidity. If humidity stays high, the unit switches to extract-only until the room clears.
Filtered air in and out
G3 filters on both intake and extract. They lift out easily and can be washed and refitted.
Neat, minimal installation
A slim 160 mm square cover on the inside wall and a round grille outside, which can be fitted from inside the room.
Works Best In Pairs
The REC Duo 100 is designed to be installed as a coupled pair. While one unit is pushing fresh air in, the other is pulling stale air out, and then they swap. That keeps the air in the house balanced and gets the most from the heat recovery.
The two units can go in the same room, such as a large open-plan living area, or in two separate rooms, for example a bedroom and a living room, with air moving between them.
We will advise on how many units you need and where to place them when we look at your home or plans.
Where It Suits
Existing homes
Heat recovery ventilation where running ducting is not practical.
Extensions and conversions
New rooms, attic conversions and garden rooms that need their own ventilation.
Problem rooms
Bedrooms and living spaces with condensation, damp or mould. The unit is rated IPX4.

Common Questions
Does it need any ducting?
No. Each unit sits in a single hole through an outside wall, with a cover inside and a grille outside. There is no ductwork and no central unit.
How many units will I need?
The units work best as coupled pairs. The right number and position depends on the size and layout of your home, so get in touch and we will advise.
Will it suit my walls?
The standard unit fits walls from 300 to 500 mm thick. Thinner walls (220 to 300 mm) and thicker walls (up to 1,000 mm) can be accommodated with accessories.
What maintenance does it need?
The G3 filters are easy to remove, wash and refit.
Do I have to adjust it myself?
No. It runs continuously at low speed and the humidity sensor increases and decreases the speed automatically. You can adjust the low speed setting and the humidity threshold if you wish.
